Hey guys
I am starting a new series where I am going to review synths, drum machines, groove boxes etc, all kind of gear that I am interested in. The first episode is dedicated to Korg Volca FM. In my own experience, the words coming on my mind are: monster sound, limitless creativity, portable size and affordable price. Oh, and last but not least, it can work on battery only.

The Korg Volca FM is a compact and affordable synthesizer that is based on the Yamaha DX7, a legendary digital synthesizer from the 1980s. The Volca FM offers a modern take on the classic DX7 sound, with a compact and portable design that makes it ideal for live performances and jam sessions.
The first thing that stands out about the Volca FM is its size. It is small and lightweight, which makes it easy to carry around and set up wherever you need it. Despite its size, it is packed with features that allow you to create complex and rich sounds.
The interface is simple and intuitive, with a row of knobs that control the various parameters of the synthesizer. There are also a number of buttons that allow you to access the various functions of the synth, such as the arpeggiator and the sequencer. The LCD screen provides clear feedback on your settings, making it easy to create and edit your sounds.
One of the standout features of the Volca FM is its ability to load DX7 patches. This allows you to import a huge library of sounds from the classic synth, which is a great way to get started with the Volca FM. You can also create your own patches using the intuitive interface, and save them to one of the 32 preset slots.
The sound quality of the Volca FM is excellent, with rich and complex tones that are faithful to the original DX7. The built-in effects, including chorus and distortion, add depth and character to your sounds, and the arpeggiator and sequencer make it easy to create complex patterns and rhythms.
Overall, the Korg Volca FM is an excellent synthesizer that offers a modern take on the classic DX7 sound. It is compact, portable, and easy to use, with a range of features that make it suitable for both beginners and experienced synthesizer users. If you are looking for a versatile and affordable synth that can produce a wide range of sounds, the Volca FM is definitely worth checking out.
